Health experts suggest that a body massage can help you recover faster from respiratory diseases, especially in the season when common colds peak. 

According to a blog of the Elements Massage, a wellness center, touch therapy or massage is effective in strengthening the body’s resistance to viruses because it increases the production of endorphins.

Endorphins are the chemicals in our brain which is responsible for stimulating the body's immune system. 

An infectious disease expert, meanwhile, says drinking a lot of water and avoiding crowded places can help prevent sickness.

“Ang viruse kasi ‘pag pumasok sa katawan mo ‘yan, sasakit na ang ulo, ilong, lalamunan, kalamnan at pakiramdam mo ay pagod na pagod ka,” Dr. Rey Salinel said. 

To soothe aching muscles and improve the body's circulation, Salinel recommends using a vapor rub with 8-hour relief.

“Using vapor rub, mas makakatulog ka nang mahimbing at mas madali kang makaka-recover [dahil sa pamamagitan ng touch therapy,] mas mabilis ma’repair ‘yung nasirang tissues na nasira ng viruses,” Salinel said.
