Children are more vulnerable to cold-causing viruses. A health expert explains, this is because they have a lower resistance to respiratory diseases.

"Napakadaling kapitan po talaga ng sakit ang mga bata. Kapag nakipag-shake hands at nakipaglaro ay nagkakahawaan po sila,” Dr Rey Salinel, an infectious disease expert, said.

Josefa Ogalesco, a mother, recalls how her grade school son got sick recently.

“Nahawa ko po s’ya noong nagkatrangkaso ako. Bumabahing ako nalilipat ko yata sa kanya,” Ogalesco said.

Salinel said it is important to take precautions to avoid the cold from developing into more severe complications.

He says eating nutritious food with vitamin C and getting enough rest can help you recover faster. He also recommends using a vapor rub with continuous 8-hour relief to help relieve nasal congestion.

‘[Gumamit tayo ng] product that will give a long lasting effect of relief for 8 hours like ‘yung mga cold rubs. Importante ito sa mga panahon na ang daming nagkakaroon ng sakit,” Salinel said.

If a cold persists for more than three days, it is advised to consult a doctor.
